Meet our two instructors!
David Chrisinger is the Director of Writing Seminars for The War Horse, the only non-profit newsroom that focuses exclusively on military and veteran issues. He teaches week-long writing seminars for veterans and their family members to help them tell their stories of service and sacrifice. For the last four years, he’s also taught a semester-long writing seminar for student veterans at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. In 2016, he edited a collection of his students’ essays, See Me For Who I Am, that is helping bridge the cultural divide that separates his students from the American people they fought to protect. He lives in Wisconsin with his wife and three young children.
Randy Brown embedded with his former Iowa Army National Guard unit as a civilian journalist in Afghanistan, May-June 2011. He authored the poetry collection “Welcome to FOB Haiku: War Poems from Inside the Wire” (Middle West Press, 2015). His essays, journalism, and poetry have appeared widely both on-line and in print. As “Charlie Sherpa,” he writes about military culture at: www.redbullrising.com, and about military writing at: www.aimingcircle.com.
